James L. West and the Community

James L. West has been an integral and influential part of the North Texas community since it opened more than two decades ago.

Since 1993, the Center has given highly skilled, compassionate care to more than 1,200 residents and day-program participants. It has provided mentoring to hundreds of medical professionals in coordination with the area’s medical schools, nursing schools, graduate degree programs, and high school health-profession programs.

In 2012 alone, James L. West offered in-depth education to more than 1,300 community caregivers, changing the way they approach how they care for their relatives living with dementia.
