Sundowning Syndrome is an mmLearn.org presentation for the James L. West Center for Dementia Care.
If your caregiving duties become extra challenging in the late afternoon, you’re not alone. In fact, many people experience behavioral changes such as confusion, anxiety, agitation, or aggressiveness with increased motor activity like pacing, wandering, resistance to redirection, and increased verbal activity like yelling during this particular time of day. In this webcast Dr. Weiss walked us through this common phenomenon known as “Sundowning” or “Nocturnal Delirium” and helps us understand the underlying causes, risk factors, epidemiology, and management techniques.
Through a partnership with mmLearn.org, James L. West offers the following video library with real-life, practical skills caregivers can start using today. mmLearn.org’s mission is to improve the quality of care and the quality of life for older adults by providing family caregivers, pastoral care providers and healthcare professionals with training and education based on evidence and best practices, using progressive technology and other advanced delivery methods.
An extension of Morningside Ministries, mmLearn.org has produced more than 300 caregiver training videos and provides training to caregivers worldwide. This session was recorded in December 2018.
